Description
Giraffes are the tallest living land animals - males, or bulls, can reach up to 19 feet high. With long legs, long necks and tongues that measure 18 inches, giraffes can pull leaves off the thorny acacia tree, one of the dietary staples of these giant browsers of the African plains. Ironically, giraffes have the same number of vertebrae in their necks (seven) as people do-just larger! And while their legs may appear similar to those of horses, giraffes can only walk or run, not trot.
I have been an artist as long as I can remember. My specialty is Portraits and Pastels. I took years off from drawing knowing that one day I would return to doing what I love. I've said for many years that I wanted to retire and paint lighthouses. I have dreamed of going to the Outer Banks in NC and taking photos to work from. I made that trip for the first time in 2012 and we loved the Outer Banks so much we are planning on retiring there someday. I bought the cameras to capture images to paint from, and fell in love with photography. It has become a passion on its own. I love traveling and taking photos and hope to be a full-time photographer and artist in the near future. I love shooting weddings and private events.

One doesn't usually see the giraffe from this angle. Thanks for sharing the unique view! LF

Thanks Mary! I think it was eating leaves from the tree above. I thought it was pretty cool!
