Description
The current Bodie Island Lighthouse is the third that has stood in this vicinity of Bodie Island on the Outer Banks in North Carolina and was built in 1872. It stands 156 feet (48 m) tall and is located on the Roanoke Sound side of the first island that is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The lighthouse is just south of Nags Head, a few miles before Oregon Inlet. It was not climbable at the time of this photo, but opened again for climbing in 2013.
I have been an artist as long as I can remember. My specialty is Portraits and Pastels. I took years off from drawing knowing that one day I would return to doing what I love. I've said for many years that I wanted to retire and paint lighthouses. I have dreamed of going to the Outer Banks in NC and taking photos to work from. I made that trip for the first time in 2012 and we loved the Outer Banks so much we are planning on retiring there someday. I bought the cameras to capture images to paint from, and fell in love with photography. It has become a passion on its own. I love traveling and taking photos and hope to be a full-time photographer and artist in the near future. I love shooting weddings and private events.
