Description
Nestled in the Great Smokey Mountains along Cade's Cove Loop, there are three small historic churches. Each established in the 1800's, they are not only beautiful, but steeped in Appalachian southern culture. The churches are now essentially museums, but you can really get a feel for life in Tennessee in the time period by visiting them. This photo is quite nostalgic for me as I grew up in rural Texas, and attended church as a child in a structure not unlike the one in this photo.
A quaint old church with a bell tower is bathed in the warm glow of a setting sun filtering through the trees. The building's white wooden siding contrasts with the verdant forest backdrop.
